Scolel Te
The Scolel Te project in Southern Mexico was the original test-bed for the Plan Vivo System. The project works with communities and small scale farmers in the state of Chiapas to develop socially beneficial forestry and agroforestry systems. The project has been selling carbon offsets since 1997 and now involves over 400 farmers from 20 different communities. Visit the website.


Women for Sustainable Development
Women for Sustainable Development is working in Southern India on a variety of projects promoting climate change mitigation and rural development:

  • Dry land development and woodlots
  • Community renewable electricity generation

Projects in development

Gorongosa National Park Project
The Gorongosa National Park project will work with the N’hambita community in the national park buffer zone to promote habitat restoration and sustainable forest management. By planting trees and protecting existing forest the project will achieve substantial reductions in carbon dioxide emissions. The project will help the community develop a range of activities that have the potential to protect biodiversity and increase local incomes.
