Forestry and Land Use Change programme

• planning, development and management of forestry and land-use carbon sequestration projects
• regional baseline-setting for land use change and forestry activities
• assessment of carbon sequestration potential of particular projects or sites
• monitoring of carbon uptake and storage
• forestry and land-use carbon accounting
• social and ecological impact assessment modules
• design of project mechanisms to facilitate investment
• development of inter-institutional linkages.

Carbon Management programme

• planning, development and management of emission reduction (technology) projects
• definition of boundary-setting protocols to identify ownership of emissions and emission reductions
• development of generic project design specifications
• screening and registration of carbon offsets and/or emission reductions
• assessment of greenhouse gas emission of companies, projects and products
• monitoring, reporting and control greenhouse gas emissions
• development of management systems, databases and IT.

Policy and Research programme

• analysing and advising on national and international policy developments and their impacts on carbon management
• researching carbon sinks and mechanisms for mitigating climate change
• identifying relationships between rural livelihoods in developing countries and carbon management in forestry.
